Anonymous donation: a safe route to parenthood
If fertility problems are such that couples cannot conceive with their own cells, the doctor will offer them the option of IVF treatment with donated cells (oocytes, sperm or embryos).
Donor program or rather infertility treatment using donated gametes has become one of the most successful methods of assisted reproduction. We provide the treatment not only to couples from the Czech Republic, but also from Europe as well as other continents, which proves the quality of our services.
Oocyte, sperm and embryo donation is legal, voluntary, safe and anonymous in the Czech Republic. All our donors undergo careful health and genetic tests. The success rate of treatment with donated cells is very high, reaching up to 60 %.

The donor oocytes can be fertilized with the partner's own sperm or the donor's sperm. More information about the criteria of our donors can be found in our Donation program. IVF treatment with donated embryo
Discover a new way to starting a family with our cryopreserved embryo donation programme. For couples seeking artificial insemination and unable to use their own germ cells, we bring an innovative solution. More information about the criteria of our donors will be given you by our coordinators. The donor's oocytes are carefully retrieved and then fertilized with the donor's sperm. After cultivation, the high-quality embryos are frozen and later, after thawing and careful preparation, are transferred to the female recipient.

FAQ of IVF treatment with donation
What is donation program and how it works
Our egg donation program, also known as ED, is tailored for women who, despite hormonal stimulation, cannot produce viable eggs and require eggs from a donor. With our extensive database of donors, we can match you with the best donor for your needs and schedule embryo transfer promptly. We understand the importance of time in this process, and we ensure no waiting time, as nature doesn't wait for anyone.
In the Czech Republic, women up to the age of 48 can undergo artificial insemination treatments, according to the law. This means that once a woman turns 49, these treatments are no longer available.
For who is egg donation suitable for
Typically, a treatment with egg donation at our clinic involves three appointments. A consultation, egg insemination with the partner’s sperm or donor sperm, and embryo transfer. However, if we've already collected and have frozen a sperm sample from the initial visit, only two appointments are needed: the first consultation and embryo transfer.
Egg donation is suitable for women who:
- Haven't conceived despite assisted fertilisation treatments.
- Are unable to conceive due to age.
- Were born without ovaries.
- Have had irreversible surgery on their ovaries.
- Lack their own eggs.
- Have undergone radiation therapy or chemotherapy.
- Are carriers of a genetic abnormality.
We’re happy to do the initial consultation online, where we'll explain the entire process to you.
How we choose a donor
At the ISCARE Clinic, we ensure donor anonymity. Our selection process is very thorough. All donors undergo multiple visits to our doctors and various tests to be included in our donor registry. They must meet legal criteria and have at least a diploma, along with specific medical exams. Our female donors, typically students or young mothers with children, are aged between 20 and 34, while our male donors are aged 18 to 39.
We aim to match donors' physical characteristics with those of the recipients, such as blood type, hair and eye colour, height and weight. Our priority is to meet our patients' preferences and ensure the birth of a healthy baby.
Currently, the waiting time for a compatible donor is approximately three months.
What to do before visiting the clinic
Women
Before your first appointment, we ask for recent PAP smear and hormonal blood test results. This includes tests for follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), prolactin (PRL), estradiol (E2), progesterone, free triiodothyronine (fT3), free thyroxine (fT4), and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). These tests should be done between the 2nd and 4th day of your menstrual cycle and be no more than 6 months old. You can send your results via email so our physician can review them before your appointment.
Men
For male partners, a semen analysis is crucial. It assesses sperm quality and guides treatment decisions. Semen collection can be done at our clinic after abstaining from sex for 2-4 days. We also store samples for future, in case of illness or injury.
What you can expect from the first consultation
Your consultation with the physician typically lasts about an hour, during which you're encouraged to ask any questions you may have. The physician will review your test results and may recommend further analyses or tests. They will provide a diagnosis and discuss potential treatment options, along with explaining various laboratory procedures. Following the consultation, we'll supply any necessary medications and provide detailed instructions on their usage if you choose to proceed with treatment.
Treatment planning and stimulation
One week before the stimulation begins, you'll begin using a nasal spray called Synarel to down-regulate. You'll also start the hormonal stimulation at home with oestrogens. This medication will be provided during your first consultation. Between the 10th and 13th day of your cycle, you'll need an ultrasound check of the woman's uterine lining to measure its development. You can arrange this with your GP, so you won't need an extra visit to our clinic.
Egg retrieval
Once your donors’ ovarian follicles are mature, we will perform an egg retrieval. These eggs are fertilised the same day with your partner's sperm, which can be either fresh or previously frozen at an earlier consultation. For the best results, it is recommended that your partner abstains from sex for 2-4 days before providing the sperm sample.
Fertilisation and advanced laboratory method ICSI
ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) is an artificial insemination method where a single sperm is injected directly into an egg using a fine micropipette. This technique is often used to address issues related to poor sperm quality and infertility. Sperm are selected based on their appearance and motility before being injected into the egg. ICSI allows for the fertilisation of multiple eggs.
Embryo transfer
Three to five days after fertilisation, we select the best quality embryos to be transferred to your womb. Usually, we transfer two embryos. You can discuss with your doctor and embryologist how many embryos you feel comfortable having transferred. While transferring more embryos can increase the chances of success, it also raises the risks for both the mother and the foetuses. We aim to minimize these risks and make decisions with each couple individually.
One hour after the embryo transfer, you will be able to leave our clinic and travel. To confirm pregnancy, you can take a test 14 days after the embryo transfer. Urine tests are widely available at pharmacies, but blood tests measuring hCG (Beta hCG) are more reliable.
Egg donation success rate
At our ISCARE Clinic, we have our own specialised laboratory, which is key to our long-term success. With the expertise of our lab and doctors, we have a pregnancy success rate of from 50 to 60%. Importantly, we have also reduced the number of multiple pregnancies, which can pose health risks for both mother and babies. Over time, our success rate for artificial insemination with egg donation has improved thanks to advanced laboratory methods.
