Complete skin revitalisation: facelifting and other rejuvenating options

Wrinkles and loose skin on your face may lay an impression of a tired look. The reason is the loss of fat in the facial area and lower elasticity of the skin. This can be repaired by a simple procedure called the facelift. By tightening the skin and removing the excessive parts, the results of the facelift are remarkable. Your face will look 10 years younger with the effect lasting for several years.

The incisions begin in the hair, continuing in front, or inside the ear, around the ear lobe, behind the ear, and back in the hair. The surgeon makes the cuts as little recognizable as possible. It is done to men and women usually between the age of 40 and 60 years. To have an even better outcome, the facelift is often combined with an eyelid surgery (upper and lower), neck lift or liposuction of double chin.

Before and after treatment
  • Prior to the surgery, there is a detailed discussion with the surgeon about which approach to take and what exactly you expect as an outcome.
  • You will be informed about the surgery duration, possible risks and the postoperative care (when to shower, wash, or color your hair).
  • Before the surgery the patient undertakes an examination by our internist (blood test, ECG, evaluation of health status).
  • The whole operation takes approximately 2-3 hours and is done under soft general anesthesia.
  • We recommend a 1-2 day stay at our clinic.
  • The face is wrapped with an elastic bandage right after the surgery to prevent excessive bruising. The patient is also given a special elastic bandage for home treatment.
  • The patient normally feels all right after the procedure and experiences very little pain.
  • The stitches are removed approximately after 2 weeks.
  • The process of healing takes about 4 weeks and for at least two month, the scars should not be exposed to solar radiation (no sun bathing or solarium).

The length of time off work depends on the complexity of the operation and the patient's occupation, but is usually between 2 and 3 weeks.
