Ear correction on an out-patient basis: innovative procedures for a perfect result

Ear Surgery (=Otoplasty) is performed to adjust ears, which stick out from the head too much. It is one of the life lasting operations with a remarkable and immediate result. Plus, scars are hidden back behind the ears, so nothing is visible.

The surgeon makes the incision on the back side of the ear to remove skin to be able to work with the cartilage. Then, the cartilage is shaped into the desired angle of the ear and fixed in the desired position.

Before and after treatment
  • Before the ear surgery, there is a detailed discussion with the surgeon about which approach to take and what exactly you expect as an outcome.
  • You will be informed about the surgery duration, possible risks and the postoperative care.
  • Before the surgery in general anesthesia the patient undertakes an examination by our internist (blood test, ECG, evaluation of health status).
  • The whole operation takes approximately 1 hour and is done under local or general anesthesia.
  • After the operation, the ears are covered with special compresion headband
  • The headband must be worn consistently for four weeks. For the following two weeks, it only needs to be worn at night.
  • For at least 6 months, scars should not be exposed to direct sunlight or sunbeds.

The length of time off work will depend on the patient's occupation and will be between 1 and 2 weeks.
